Healing the Kidneys

Dietary Support
Slow cook using less liquid and more oil with light seasoning, including stewing, pressure cooking, simmering and marinating. Take all drinks warm or hot.
Chew each bite completely before swallowing.

Recommended

  • Buckwheat (unless the kidneys and bladder are too contracted), whole grains, such as barley and millet, and brown, black, and wild rice
  • Soba and buckwheat noodles
  • Beans, especially smaller beans, such as adzuki, black soy, lentils and chickpeas
  • Miso soups
  • Dried tofu
  • Cooked tempeh
  • Fresh-water fish (trout) or white fish—Once or twice per week
  • Root and dried vegetables—Dried daikon, shitake mushrooms, kale, carrot, parsley, turnip and
    cabbage
  • Algae and sea vegetables—Kombu, arame, wakame, nori and hitziki
  • Pickles
  • Dried fruit—Black berries and watermelon
  • Cooked fruit—Apples and pears
  • Dark sesame seeds
  • Chestnuts
  • Dried fish condiment
  • Bancha tea and kombu tea
